An alleged member of the Molly Maguires, who was convicted by a jury 117 years ago of planning the murder of a coal mining official, was vindicated today by a Carbon County jury after a daylong trial.

Alexander Campbell, then 43, was convicted in 1876 of planning to kill mine official John P. Jones in Lansford a year earlier.

Today a panel of seven men and five women, brought into the county from Northampton County, after listening to over four and a half hours of testimony, found Campbell not guilty of conspiracy to commit murder.
