State police at the Lehighton barracks are investigating the theft of a license plate from a vehicle that was parked at the Jonas Hotel, Polk Township.
The incident was reported at 2 a.m. Dec. 17. The victim is Carolann Stroup, 41, of Palmerton.
She told police someone took the plate off her motor vehicle and fled in an unknown direction.
