The Mahoning Township Zoning Hearing Board granted a parking variance, clearing the way for the Mahoning Valley Cinemas Inc. to open an eight-auditorium theater in the former Brights building at the Carbon Plaza Mall on Route 443 in Mahoning Township. Credit for bringing an indoor theater back to Carbon County belongs to partners Dr. David Yanoff and Fernando Iannarelli. Iannarelli, of Philadelphia, is a professional movie theatre organizer who has set up 13 theaters in five states.
