The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, Eastern District, has approved the Nov. 6 order of the Court of Common Pleas of the 56th Judicial District (Carbon County) to abolish the Grand Jury System. Deputy Prothonotary Laura E. Litchard has so informed Judge Albert H. Heimbach. As a result, there will be no further convening of the Grand Jury effective Jan. 1. Many counties of the Commonwealth, including Monroe and Pike, will also eliminate the system.
